While
thinking this morning, a man, Tib, crossed my mind. Tib liked to live on the
edge, taking unnecessary risks. Even when he knew the right thing to do, Tib
would intentionally do the wrong thing, and most times, he would get away with
it. One day, Tib decided to test the limits of his invincibility. Tib
chose to drink a poisonous fluid rumoured to have a perfectly fatal rate. After
10 minutes, Tib took the antidote, and he was saved.
Next, he
decided to try it for 15 minutes, and again, he took the antidote and was
saved. Thinking the poison could do no harm to him, Tib decided to stretch this
test for 20 minutes. However, his immune system had been compromised from the
previous attempts and this time, Tib’s body couldn’t handle the attack. 15 minutes
after taking the poison, Tib died before anyone could administer the antidote.
Some people
live this way every day. They think they have more time or believe in “once
saved, forever saved”. They steal, kill, destroy, worship idols, love money,
and do everything God forbids. They think, “If I commit this sin today, I will
repent tomorrow and regain my salvation”. And they have probably gotten away
with it for a while, but like Tib, a day may come when they won’t have enough
time.
True, none
of us will live forever, but why take the risk of dying in your sin. “The
devil’s most potent strategy is letting people think they have enough time
before they die”. Eternity is too long to leave your salvation to chance. Make
a decision to surrender to Christ and stick to it because Tomorrow may be too
late.
